How the dates work
Each city page shows an opening window and a closing window: the stretch when that city's daily average air temperature moves through the low-to-mid 60s°F, judged against its own 1991ā2020 NOAA station records. Water lags air by a week or two, so those crossings mark when an unheated pool becomes ā and stops being ā genuinely pleasant. Every page states the assumption plainly, because a heater, solar cover, or shady lot rewrites the dates.
